Large Platform-Style Community Lake Dock in Missouri City, TX
A few years ago, Texas Ranch Resources completed a custom dock for a community lake in Missouri City, Texas. Unlike a traditional dock with a long, narrow walkway extending over the water, this project featured a large rectangular platform built along the lake’s edge.
The broad, open design created a substantial waterfront space, while the dark-stained wood and surrounding railing gave the finished dock a clean, polished appearance.
A Different Approach to a Community Lake Dock
What made this project stand out was its platform-style layout. Rather than using a narrow walkway leading to a separate seating or fishing area, the dock was designed as a single large rectangular surface.
This created a more open and versatile space along the shoreline. The wide platform offered plenty of room to gather, relax, and enjoy the lake without the confined feel of a standard walkway-style dock.
The design also gave the dock a strong visual presence from both the water and the surrounding community property.
Dark-Stained Wood and Perimeter Railing
The completed structure featured dark-stained wood across the platform and railing. The deep finish brought out the natural character of the wood and gave the dock a more refined look that complemented the lakefront setting.
Railing around the platform helped define the edges of the dock and made the large rectangular layout feel complete. It also added visual structure without taking away from the open feel of the platform.
Because the dock was located on a shared community lake, its appearance was an important part of the finished project. The consistent stain, clean lines, and simple railing design helped the structure blend into the neighborhood while still becoming an attractive feature along the shoreline.

The Finished Result
